Kiams Has Been Able To Create A Unique Industry-Academic ...

?

Amongst the students of the Kirloskar Institute of Advanced Management Studies, Professor Vinay Bhushan is perceived as a ?strict? teacher. Professor Vinay Bhushan agrees heartily with his students from KIAMS on this subject! The fact that he teaches a ?scary? subject like Stats, perhaps has added to this impression. With a BSc from Osmania University in Maths and Stats, M. sc(Comp.Sc) from Karnataka University and young Vinay Bhushan chose to do his MBA from the CV Raman University, specializing in the unique combination of IT and HR. His choice of subjects might have been confounding a decade back, but today in KIAMS Professor Vinay Bhushan is ?cat?s whiskers?!

?For any organization today, IT and HR are the two most important departments. As per reports, attrition is the heaviest in the IT sector, with 45% of the people leaving their organisations within the first year of service, and 35% in the second year.

The challenges with the organisations lie in how best to integrate Technology with the HR policies. Infact, one of the subjects of my research at the Kirloskar Institute of Advanced Management Studies is to understand this and how all it is affecting the inter-operability of companies. The other subject, which I?m currently researching at KIAMS, is Knowledge Management. This revolves around the integration of all the information systems for effective e-governance.?

Right from the day he passed out of Karnataka University in 2002, Professor Bhushan has been an academician. For the first two years he was with Karnataka University, after which he was with ICFAI from 2004 to 2010. In 2011, he joined IIPM, but within a few months shifted to KIAMS.

?The Kirloskar Institute of Advanced Management Studies has been able to create a unique platform, not just for its students but for the KIAMS faculty as well. The exposure to Industry and the close integration of industry with the KIAMS academic curriculum provides for a completely different kind of exposure.?

Since IT is one of his subjects, Professor Vinay Bhushan leaves no stone unturned to ensure that his classes in KIAMS are mounted on the latest technological backbone with complete online access in the classrooms. His classes are fluently interactive with the digital world, with extensive audio-visual means and online simulation. Thus, even ?scary? subjects like Statistics become quite easy ? if not enjoyable ? for his students, with Excel Work-sheets formulae forming a part of the first term curriculum of KIAMS, and SPSS being introduced in the second term.?
